Killing my quattro summary



Thanks for all the responses.  The concensus seems to be that if I want to
use cheap gas, I should use a cheap car...probably right.   No one had any
definitive knowledge of engine damage, but the messages all had that "you
never know..." feeling about them.  I do know that my wife's Saab 900 SE
turbo runs with about the same boost levels, same static compression ratio,
and nearly the same hp/liter, but Saab recommends regular gas except when
you want to extract the "maximum performance level".

I'll split the difference and run alternate tanks of premium and regular and
see how it goes.  The mixture should end up at about the right octance
level.
