Here is the key.  Static compression ratio really doesnt mean anything.  
Dynamic compression ratio is what the companies base their fuel 
recommendations on.  A car could have a 15:1 static, but only a 7:1 
dynamic compression ratio, thereby only needing regular.

There is alot of math involved in figuring out the dynamic ratio 
including valve timing, etc etc. Im not 100% familiar with the procedure, 
but basically, if you have a turbo engine, i would recommend using 
premium...

Turbo cars have nearly the same dynamic compression ratios as diesels.....
