ISV woes
Hopefully someone can help me with this. Car is an '84 5KS.
I finally got around to getting a new (to me) ISV valve for my car and after connecting it and starting the engine the idle jumps to 3 or 4 k rpm, which is exactly what the old one does. I know the new ISV works though, because the guy at the wrecker started the car it was in to show me that it was working properly.
The connector for the ISV is putting out power as it should, but I don't have a multimeter so I don't know how much, which leads to my question: is it possible that a defective thermoswitch could make the ISV behave this way? Since I don't have a multimeter, I can't check the continuity on the switch, but if that's a possibility then it looks like it might be time to buy a multimeter.
If anyone can help out, I'd really appreciate it.
TIA,
Jeff Mruss
