Dream on, Alice. Radar or laser "evidence" makes it easy to document
speed. Documenting other "antisocial behavior" such as dangerous lane
changes or Ma and Paw Kettle cruising for mile after mile at 55 in the show
off lane (leading others, perhaps, to perform an occasional dangerous lane
change) is more difficult to prove. Plus, there seems to be some of a
mentality in the police locker room. "I got me an Audi (or Bimmer or
Porsche or...) today. Heh, Heh, Heh".
There are many rural communities which derive a major portion if not their
total community revenues from ticketing out of state drivers for speeding
at 51+ mph in a 50 mph zone. I could point out several not all that far
from where I live.
REOs get their reputation justly. REO (Revenue Enhancement Officer).
Please, this is not meant to flame the many decent officers who are out
there but there certainly is an element of the REO-type around.
