If you _are_ going to do the turbo, buy an equivalent junkyard I5 for about $400-$500, drop it in in a weekend, drive it, then sell it for $400-$500 when the turbo goes in. Take the money you saved by not rebuilding the old motor and get a decent intercooler set up for the 4K. Really, the I5 is such a tough motor, and relatively plentiful in the junkyards that rebuilding them is not yet practical. Maybe in 5 or 10 more years.
