Re: 5000 vs 100/200 nomenclature

Here's my understanding of the type $$^H^H44 [sic] history, excluding
the V8:

YEAR MODEL -'88 MODEL '89- TURBO? QUATTRO? WAGON?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
'84-'91 5000 S 100, 100E N N Y

'87-'91 5000 S 100 quattro N Y N
             quattro

'84-'85 5000 S turbo Y N N

'86? 5000 CS N N N

'86-'91 5000 CS 200 turbo Y N N
             turbo

'86-'91 5000 CS 200 quattro Y Y Y
             quattro

All quattro models were available only with manual transmissions; all
non-quattro models were available either way, though automatics are much
more
common.

Yes, all 5000 CS quattro's (as labeled on the trunk) are turbo's. 5000
CS turbo quattro just would have been too many badges to put on the
trunk. And yes, all plain 5000 CS's (though there are few) are not
turbo's. 5000 CS indicates a trim level, which includes a different dash
and leather seats and so forth.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the above is at least pretty
close.
