I took 12 out yesterday (at a local scrapyard).

My technique is to exert torque (is that word allowed?) on the connector
end of the switch towards the centreline of the whole assembly, gently
lifting the edge of the trim over the two small plastic catches formed
on the outside of the switch. Thumb on the outer join between switch
and trim, forefinger under the edge of the trim. It helps if you've seen
a 'naked' switch - perhaps a junkyard can help? Once you have the
knack, you can strip all four out of the trim in less than thirty
seconds.
