H4 Eurolights in 90q

To those who have asked in the past:

I have finally installed the H4 Eurolights in my wife's 90q that I bought
from Denon in March but was inhibited from installing by her damaging her
car. I was concerned that they might not fit, in depth, because they are
used in Europe in the 4 cylinder 80s. However, I can report that they do
fit, although the back of the lamp access on the right unit is quite close
to the hole through which the engine gets its air. There appears to be as
much cross-sectional clearance as the hose section, but I can't tell if the
maximum flow is the same. I recall Tom Nas reported to me once that the
H4/H1 units are less deep, but with them one has to relocate the turn
signals.

I used the harness/relay assemblies that I bought from Vortrag (Todd
Candey). They seem to work well, although a little longer wire for the left
side to get to the battery would have helped. (I chose to use the battery
rather than the alternator to avoid having to remove the alternator,
disconnect the battery, and replace her unknown-code radio.) Also, the high
and low beam circuits were found to be reversed, but that was easily
corrected by swapping the pins in the H4 lamp connectors. I found only one
of the mini-fuse holders that are part of the harnesses was shipped with a
fuse included, but that may have been an example to clarify which type to
use.

As it isn't my car and I have had a lot of other projects to do, I haven't
driven with the new lights at night yet, but they certainly have a different
low-beam pattern on my garage door. A report on apparent relative
brightness will have to wait.
