Just a thought.  Are these amps on the individual speakers not fused in some
way???  How about putting in a small (5A??) fuse in line of the power wire
(pos) going to these amps (or from amp to speaker).  Wouldn't this prevent a
potential disaster (i.e. blow fuse vs. cause speaker to burst into flames)?
Sorry, this is from a non-technical person, but I know fuses can save a lot
of trouble.

If you have the Bose system, best option is to scrap it.  I don't like the
Bose system to begin with.  Not inexpensive to replace an entire audio
system though.  Friend of mine spent about $2500 replacing his.
