Tranny problems? - 93 100CSQW

Hey gang,

Strangest thing happened today, but believe someone posted similar
experience a while back.  I had to do one of those quick back-ups, then
forward to get out of the way of a car. When I put car back in "D", the
shifter went into position fine, but as I speeded up, tranny wouldn't
shift. I got it up to 4k rpm's and about 50 mph and still wouldn't
downshift. It was also making a high pitch sound.  Got off the road,
turned car off, turned back on and everything is fine. Is this a
quirk due to the sudden shifting or a sympthom of bigger tranny
problems? Appreicaite any feedback.
