Another part for the trunk...

On the way home today comes the familiar overheat warning... A quick
stop tells the story - blown heater core. Fill up, limp home - by which
time there's a 1/2" of water/coolant in the footwells.
Discount Auto sells 3/4" and 5/8" heater bypass caps fer 1.99 a pair
under the "HELP" brand. Toss a pair of 3/4" in the trunk fer a type 44 -
with the summer coming on, mine won't be the only core to blow -
remember, these have plastic end caps too!
On the same note, if yer heater control valve is over 5 years old - or
is brown with discoloration, order up one of those too - about 17.00 as
I recall. Otherwise, thrown a 3/4" coupler in the trunk too.
At this point, down here in Florida, replacement of the core isn't an
issue until mid December (if ever).
Also took the time to install the Shogun after cooling pump.
