Cold start problem - final chapter

Since I got my 86 4KCSQ in March, I have been troubleshooting a cold start
problem that I have consulted & reported back to the list on many times.

The things done were :

Search for vacuum leaks.
New Bosch +4 Plat Plugs.
New Dist Cap / Rotor.
Fuel leaks found & corrected.
Coolant temp sensor replaced.
Changed one injector that seemed leaky.
Mechanic leaned down fuel mixture.
Replaced main crank seal with TB Change.
(done 'cause it is prudent during TB change but also to alleviate oil loss)

All these things contributed to improvement, but the problem was still
evident although now tolerable.

Still suffering oil loss, and what I call a cold start problem was unchanged
during the 90+ degree days we had in NY recently. My oil loss was appx 1 Qt.
in 700 miles.

This weekend I did an oil change with Castrol 20/50 (wish it could be Mobil1
but not with such oil loss).

Went over the engine with a fine tooth comb looking for the places I am
losing oil. Previously, I degreased the engine to make this job easier.

Looks like I have seepage at the valve cover gasket & oil pan gasket. More
up top though. Tightened down the valve cover bolts, which felt fairly loose
and I have been watching for seepage.

It has been dawning on me on the past few starts, that the starting problem
that has been plagueing me is no longer apparent. Was it really the valve
cover gasket causing my problem all along? Maybe. I will watch carefully to
see what develops.

Thanks to all for their help.
