I would look very carefully at the temperature control damper (door)
which is operated, via a Bowden cable, by a small electric gear motor
in the A/C programmer located just in front of the glove box. Things
that can go wrong include
kinked or sticking cable,
misadjusted cable (see Bentley),
sticking temp. door,
worn gear motor,
worn gear motor position sensing potentiometer.
You should also run through the A/C diagnosic displays (see
Bentley) to verify all temperature sensors are OK, etc.
If it's a worn potentiometer, there are remedies to be found in the
archives. (No btdt personally.) The cable and the adjustment
are accessable without undue difficulty but if the gear motor
and/or potentiometer are not in good shape, there would be little
point in a cable adjustment. HTH.
