The Adventures of Baby

On a lighter note...

I took Baby to Charlie Brown's the other night. For those of you that don't
have Charlie's Browns in you area, its a moderate priced steakhouse. I pulled
into the parking lot and saw that there were cones all over the place...lo
and behold its valet parking night, damn! It's not that I'm too cheap to tip
the guy, its that I don't want to leave Baby with a stranger. Seems to me
that the first thing that strangers do when they get inside is engage the
differential. They must think: "Hey, here's a button, let's push it!" I hate
that. So I say: "Can I park myself?"

"No ma'am, (geesh!) there are only X number of self-parking spots and they're
already taken."

"Of course they are." So I tell him very slowly and pointedly, "Look this is
Baby or 'The Baby' do you understand?"

"Oh, yes ma'am, we'll take good care of Baby, don't worry about a thing."

(At least I got a smile out of him) Grudgingly, I get out and refrain from
one last wave. When I come back out after dinner, the valet spots me and says
with a big smile: "Baby will be right up."

I love the personal touch, but now I'm thinking I'm going to have to give a
bigger tip.
