I replaced the the engine/auto trans. in my 86 5000 wagon with a MC
engine/5spd.
 The motor out of that wagon did not have a hole for the pilot bearing
in the end of
the crankshaft.  Neither did the motor out of my 84 5000 Turbo with a
automatic.  I 
would check your crank for pilot bearing access.
