I don't think there's a snobbery issue here, Alex.  I think it's a matter
of the list being made up primarily of enthusiasts, and the cars they know
about and can respond about with experience are the more common and/or more
performance-natured of the models.  Some issues (doorhandles  :(  for
example) apply to  a good many more of the list members than do
four-bangers.  It  IS the quattro list, after all, and no quattros had
automatice till the V8 and the V6 models evolved.  I've been reading here
for about a year, and it's amazing the range of experience and knowledge
displayed.  Not all posters are always available or have time to respond to
the 15th repetition of the same question in two months.  But the
willingness, even the DESIRE, to help others here is tremendous.  What's
really amazing is that such a divergent collection of interests doesn't
lead to more rants and wasted bandwidth.
