'82 5K fuel pump questions.

Hi.
    I am in the process of troubleshooting the fuel system on my 1982
Audi 5KS.  Summer is here and I am in the process of placing "baby" back
on the road after a winter storage. Was wondering a couple of things.

1.  Does anyone know if an alternative fuel pump can be used on the car?
(years and models) This vintage has the fuel pump mounted external to
the fuel tank.

2.  Does anyone know of a good source for used fuel pumps?

Any advice or suggestions you could provide would be much appreciated.
