Used wastegates?
I thought I'd fixed my overboost problem earlier, but it has come back /
is still there. Vacuum testing again on the top of the wastegate does not
hold vacuum (or pressure, for that matter). I inspected the wastegate for
tears but could see none, though it would've been hard to see small tears.
I reassembled the WG and checked again for leaks, wondering if I hadn't
tightened it properly last time. Still leaked. Anyone have a torque spec
for the six nuts that hold it all together? The Bentley doesn't.
I know that new diaphragms cost $700 or so from Audi, with a complete
wastegate thrown in free, and that new diaphragms are tough to find these
days. What are my chances with a used wastegate?
For now, I'll keep my eye on the boost and a light foot on the pedal.
Hitting the fuel pump cutout isn't much fun.
