lada's
yeah igor you tell em! even my wifes 1200cc '84 lada would run at 140kph, my
4 1500's would top 160 kph and the two 1600's would better 180kph. they were
a car that you could beat to death and would keep running. i found them to
be a really fun car to drive. yes they had their idiosyncrasies...but then
we drive audi's which have a few of their own too.
as for canadian winters igor....my wife is from arvida quebec where
winters last 7 months. snowplows are not used because the snowfalls are too
heavy....they have to use snowblowers. her brother used to drive a fuel oil
delivery truck. it got stuck one day on the way home, so he abandoned it and
walked home. the next morning he couldn't find it. the snow drifts were so
deep that he had to poke a long stick into the snow and listen for the
hollow sound of the truck. then there's the -45deg for three weeks at a
time...when it goes up to -25 it feels positively balmy. i understand that
winnipeg is even worse for the winters, but i haven't been there, except to
drive past, or to russia in winter.
