well, remember that it's all relative. i think the french "pos" you speak
of was a gti, and there is nothing wrong with them (particularly a french
gti) on a twisty road :-)
afterall, the recent goodwood hillclimb in britain had modern f1 machinery
hammering up the hill competing with everything from porker 917's, modern
and group "b" rally cars (thank you again michele), and pre-war machinery.
interestingly 3rd and 4th fastest times were the subaru and ford wrc cars,
faster than the 900hp+ 917's, and all the old formula 1 machinery. they
were, however, around 5 seconds slower than the new hillclimb record holder,
a mclaren '98 f1 car (800hp).
just goes to show, you've got to have power, but you've also got to be able
to put it down...

Actually it was an S8. But you should never judge a car's performance by a
movie. I think Ronin also had the cops in some 53HP Citroen/Renault/French
POS _easily_ keeping pace with an M5 in a car chase...
