Not good unless you want to buy a CV joint real soon. get another boot
on and save it from destruction.

Well, yeah, before worrying about oil "consumption" it makes sense to
eliminate oi "leaks". New rubber gasket, about $20, PITA level or
replacement, low to medium. Some awkward nuts, some stuff int he way
that is easy to move. bloodshed factor minimal.
What type/weight oil do you run? A slightly heavier oil might help too.
