RE: Auto tranny theory.
Do you mean when it has to sit for 20 mins that it has to sit for 20 mins
not running?
If so, one possibility is a bad case. I have a 82 Jeep Cherokee that has
these exact symptoms. Would run fine old, get down the road about 2 miles
and the tranny started to slip, a mile more mo motion at all. We
eventually decided that the case must be heating up and causing a
marginally leaking part to loose all pressure when hot doue to thermal
expansion. The accumulator piston was our prime suspect but I just put in
a used tranny and it ran fine until it blew a head gasket. That's my next
projuet right after I put and engine in the Dodge truck I have. Oh my I am
gettin terribly off subject here...
