intro and a question
Hi Everyone,
New to
the list. My name is Mike, I'm in Cape Town South Africa, and I have a 1982 Ur
Audi Quattro (Gold).
The car has been stock
until a few (5) months ago when I mangled the orig engine. (snapped the camshaft
@ 6k RPM).
Have owned it for the last 3 years with no trouble
until now.
Ok, here
is my question. I replaced the 2.1 (shim head) T engine with a later 2.26
(hydraulic head) T engine. I had it done at my local mech shop, but!..... It's a
Lonnnngggg story, and suffice to say, they do not know how to put it back
together the way it was, After THEY dismantled it!(sad world is'nt it?).
Anyway,
there is a plastic housing to the right of the engine, which goes over the
tappet cover to a "dust scoop" which bolts over the injectors, and
then runs into a blower of sorts, in front of the distributor.
I heard
it is called an "anti-percolation" unit which regulates something
about the turbo.
1- Can
anyone on the list verify this?
2- Is it
essential? (what happens if it is left off)
3- Does
anyone have a pic, or a diagram of how this works, and how it is assembled. (the
shop has lost some of the bits) and I have decided to finish it myself, but I do
not have a manual.
Any help
would be appreciated (the local Audi Agents are just as useless as the above
shop)
Thanks a lot
Mike
