a) Seriously shagged idle stabiliser valve. Take it off the car - if
you can blow through it, bin it.

(I did this a couple of weeks ago to a club member who turned up at my
house with a D-plate 200TQ estate. He also complained of high idle,
so the first thing I checked was the ISV. Bad. So I threw it
straight into the bin - right over the top of his car on the far side
of the workshop. Dropped right in the centre. I had a replacement
out of the spares box before he had his mouth shut. Roger Galvin
nearly soiled his underwear. But I digress.)

b) Clamp off hoses in the breather system until you find out which one
   is carrying the leaked air.
