Fw: Ferodo pads and ATE Super Blue
>From Jim Griffin. Please respond to him directly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

In preparation for the QCUSA track event next month at LimeRock, I ordered
some
Ferodo pads for the front of my QSW (to go along with the ATE Power Disc
slotted
rotors I've had on for a while) and some ATE Super Blue brake fluid.
Anyone care to comment on either of these?
Any BTDT with Ferodo pads? Better braking... with less fade etc.? More brake
dust? (That's what the guy at GPR told me...). I ordered them only for the
front, since they do most of the braking. The rears are fairly new (OEM)...
and
will do a lot less of the braking, so I figured I'd leave them alone. Is
this a
mistake? Will I find such a drastic difference (i.e. unsafe) between the
Ferodo
pads and the OEM pads that I need to do them all around? Are the Ferodo pads
gonna' eat up my rotors? Keep in mind that LimeRock is a track that is
fairly
easy on brakes and tires (compared to other tracks, that is...).
As far as the ATE Super Blue... any BTDT? Obviously, I need to get all of
the
old stuff out first, then fill with the new stuff. Any tips/tricks? Take the
turkey baster, drain the reservoir, and pump out all the old fluid until
it's
almost bone dry (i.e. so as not to mix the Blue with the regular stuff)? The
Super Blue is compatible with regular fluid, right? It's just that mixing it
kinda' dilutes the benefits of the Super Blue, correct?
Also, I think I'm gonna try to fabricate some brake cooling ducts (out of
dryer
hose or ventilation hose... which I saw at Pep Boys for about $10). I
figured
I'd try to snake them from the lower front grill area (under the bumper)
over to
the rotors, and zip tie them to something or other. Anyone BTDT? I'll let
you
know how I make out with it...
Thanks.
