ps: An easier way to r/o the wastegate is to d/c it and block the hose.

84 Volvo ic turbo and Hugo, my local mentor, correctly diagnosed
the boost problem as a clogged cat, even though Midas had tested the
cat and found it to be "ok" (no heating differential, front to rear) ie. a
clogged cat would be cooler at the rear. You can also test back pressure
by testing with a long hose and adapter to the o2 sensor plug
or a test plug if there is already one there, (the Volvo has one). >2psi
suggests bad cat. (I,m not sure if that figure is on boost or at idle,
but I,d want to see what the on boost figure is. MP.
