Re: Low boost problems -- at wits end -- HELP!

Well, I believe I may have a winner.

Ned Ritchie was good enough to suggest that I pinch the hose that runs
from the intake manifold to the waste gate, thereby defeating it.
This produced instant high-boost which allowed me to rule out that the
boost pressure was being lost due to mechanical reasons. Thanks to
all those that suggested a variety of mechanical candiates.

This focused my attention on the electrical system. Many wrote to
point out to me that although I had verified that the connection from
the Throttle Switch to the Waste Gate Solenoid was working, I had
failed to validate the switch itself. This evening I pulled this
switch off and verified that turning it fully counterclockwise, into
the idle position, connects the top pin and the center pin. A
satisfying click is heard. However turning the switch fully clockwise
neither produces a click nor an electrical connection between the
bottom and center pins.

I have concluded that this switch is probably a dud (to be verified as
soon as a replacement switch is obtained). The switch does not seem
to be servicable but I would love to hear evidence to the contrary.

Many thanks to all that played.

  Gisli
