4.11 gears for 200q?
I would like to lower the final drive ratio on my 89 200tq.
The current ratio is great for interstate cruising, but
leaves something to be desired around town and on the track.
I know that on a 5ktq you can just put in the 4:11 boxes
from a normaly asperated 5kq, but I am not quite sure how
to accomplish this on my TorSen equipped 200.
My 100/200 Service Training manual states that the 200 retains
the 016 tranny (but with TorSen) however the 100 switched to the
01A. Why was this tranny used only on the 100q? Can't it
handle higher power? It appears the 01A uses a different
shift linkage as well. How difficult would it be to
install this tranny on my 200tq?
As another possible option, could I purchase a 5kq 4:11 016
and and install it's final drive in my tranny? Or install
the TorSen diff from my tranny in the 5kq unit? How
complicated is this (I know very little about transmissions
-obviously- so a shop would probably do this for me.
Opinions, suggestions?
Thanks
