I know the feeling _exactly_. In the old days of my '85 5000s FWD,
non-turbo, 5-speed (which was a perpetual repair project) I once
borrowed my aunt's Sedan DeVille to go get some parts for the Audi.
Nearly killed myself in the very first corner.
Every vacation the same recurring tirade from my wife following a hair
rising near miss stint with screeching wheels and a 30mm clearance
swerve in a rental oriental mid-size: -"when you'll learn that these
cars are _NOT_ your 200?!" :-)
One bright summer morning in LA on FWY 5 running late for the Co booth
at the Sensors Show West in Anaheim: Screeeech....SMACK! and my rental
has its nose stuck in a brand new, never titled LS400. Of all possible
cars! My first collision ever, and a disgraceful rearender at that.
Guilty for driving an Accord in the Audi style, with:
-No manual transmission to anchor the car down.
-No AWD to deliver that engine braking reverse thrust to all four
wheels.
-No Z-rated SP8000 to glue the car down under braking.
-No crossdrilled Brembos, no SS lines, no DOT-4 Pentosin brake fluid in
the system.
-No ABS as a "plan B" should all of the above fail.
