No, this is physical damage caused by inferior parts or a mounting issue
(assuming no external contact).

I thought it was the head shield in the begining but when I had it on a
friends lift, to install coilovers :.) I found otherwise. I hit the cat
with my hand it sounded horrid, almost like there were ball bearings stuck
in there. Could the use of a cone filter have caused this?
