Hi Paul,
The trick is that you don't try to compress the shock (if you can they're
NO good). I even made a special tool to try to compress the shock-still
didn't work. What you have to do is remove the rubber bumpers on the
hinge. This will allow you to raise the trunk lid higher and you just pop
in the shock at full extension. Turned out to be easy. Then I RTV'ed the
rubber bumper back on later.
