Hi Rob,
That's a sensor switch for the econoshift circuit (relay #3). If the
electrical connector is unplugged, try plugging it in. You may notice an
annoying orange up arrow begin to light up as you drive reminding you to
shift early. You will probably want to unplug it again afterwards :-)
BTW, this switch is adjustable, there's a tiny section in the 5000 Bentley
manual that shows how. The switch is not even mentioned in the 4000 manual.
