Hello all, this comes to me from a friend who is not on the list. Car in
question is a beautiful 1984 Oettinger 4kq that some of you may recall my
raving about it the past. The car has not been running right for some time
now and I suggested he list what has been done so far, I would post that and
see what more advice we can get. I am assuming that the shop who was working
on it tested fuel pressures, etc. since I know the owner and he isn't bad.
The following is what I know:
"Dear Mike, Here's some info on my Audi that came from Guy @ Coastal
Performance as to what he's done (to no avail) to try to fix the car:
Replaced, Repaired, Monitored the following:
Fuel distributor, potentiometer, oxygen sensor, wiring harness for fuel
injection, cold start valve, & idle stabilizer. Nothing worked. The car will
not run well at low rpm, it gags when you try to accelerate, seems like it's
missing or choking. It will not idle. It sometimes stalls out when you step
on it or try to punch it. Very slow acceleration. Seems to run OK when you
get it going above 2500 rpm, even for long stretches of time. For your info
the car is 1984 model year Audi 4000S Quattro. As of this time I've got the
car in storage, haven't started it in two months. I need to buy a new battery
too. Let me know if you have any ideas. I have to smog it. I got a non-op
permit. Thanks for your help & suggestions, Cheers! GT"
Any and all advice would be greatly appreceated. It would be nice to make
this car a runner in time to have Gerry join us in Monterey as this is a very
nice and unique 4kq.
