The warning light probably came on for a reason -- your brake pads are
worn.  The correct action should be to replace the pads, not defeat
the warning light.

By the way, the warning light comes on when the embedded wire in the
brake pads wears away, creating an open circuit in the brake pad
wear sensor.  To make the warning light go off you must bridge the
two contacts on the plug.
