A point of information here.  Type 43 body Audi 5000's used manual slider
controls with rotary temp control knob from '81-'83 here in the US.  The
previous years used a single slide control which was a combination temp and
function vacuum control.  If I ever have to change my heater core in my '80
5ks, I'm going to convert to the newer style controls-much more flexibility
in adjustments.
