Re: Clutch Troubles
Aaron;
Sounds like a failure in the clutch hydraulics or your pedal/linkage has
broken. The grinding may have been due to the clutch not completely
disengaging, which could in turn be caused by a bad master or slave
cylinder, air in the hydraulics, or a damaged pedal or linkage. '95 is
fairly new for these types of failure, though. Do you have fluid in the
clutch hydraulic reservoir? I'm not familiar with the 90 model, but on the
Type 44, the clutch system is fed via a hose into the side of the brake
fluid reservoir. If the fluid level is low, it can be below the take-off for
the clutch ( no fluid reserve on the clutch circuit) and still be sufficient
for the braking system.
Isn't 50 m.p.h. a little fast to be downshifting into first (I assume
you are in the U.S.A. from your e-mail address)?
