Clutch Troubles

I have a 95 Audi 90 Quattro Sport. I bought ths car a few weeks ago and I
have noticed a little bit of grinding when I down shift into second, which
is another problem. I was testing by shifting into first at about 50, I
wasn't actually going to pull the clutch out, I was just trying to push the
lever. When I did this the clutch popped out even though my foot still had
the pedal completely depressed and the clutch stopped working. I don't know
what to do.
