RE: 86 4kcsq rear brakes.
Well, that may be a good idea, because I, using extreme downward force,
managed to get the side with the formerly stuck guide pin to spin and
compress enough to install new pads on that side. On the other side, I
could not get any grip with the driver and just put the old (but nearly
new) pads back in. I just have to compress it the width of one backing
plate to get new pads in, so maybe the channel locks will work.
If I have to reshape, it will have to go to 14 mm, because that's what I
got (got 12, 14 and 17 today in a set for $7.00), and don't think 13 will
work anyway as the 12 is so loose. It the actual hex portion buried deep
in the center hole and is potentially plugged up with junk. preventing the
driver from going in at all?
My former shaking on braking has ceased, so I may not have to do the fronts
like I thought. I did notice that the rear ball joints and tie rod ends
need to be replaced.

A big set of channel locks on the rim of the piston? Last resort only! Or
re-shaping the hole again with a die grinder to 13mm hex and then use a
13mm hex driver.
