Alcantara (was: S4 AVAILABLE!!!)

I saw a press pool A8 with app. 10,000 miles on it last week where the
Alcantara on the driver's side door "pocket" was *very* worn (scuffed). It
was worn practically smooth.

I don't know what that says about Alcantara in particular, but it's a data
point.

I have to say, too, that it seems to me that press car interiors get
seriously abused, in my limited experience.

Alcantara is still on my list o' options for the S4.

Anyone other than me paranoid of the Alcantara?  The stuff that was
originally in my 88 5kcstq was not only destroyed but had a serious order as
well.  I would be afraid to ever get it again.  Most of the Audi leather
seats seem to hold up extremely well, as evidenced by the 86 Black and
Graphite sport interior that currently graces my 88.  Any thoughts or
comments?  I'm _seriously_ thinking of getting a S4bt, and Alcantara is not
on my options list...
