Re: ur-q wont crank
Todd;
There is no fuse in the starting circuit. Assuming your battery is OK,
you either have a bad ignition switch, bad connection(s), bad wires, or a
faulty starter/solenoid. If the car has been sitting, I'd start by checking
the connections at the starter. Then check that the starter solenoid works
by jumpering power to the solenoid coil terminal ( I assume you don't hear
clicks when you try to start the car - if you do that is the solenoid
activating which tells you the ignition switch is working and the solenoid
is pulling in). If the solenoid clicks when jumpered but not when the
ignition switch is turned, check the switch and wiring.
When fooling around with the starter while it's on the car, make darn
sure the car won't roll off the jackstands onto your head and be prepared
for lots of sparks if you are jumpering power to the starter. I always take
the starter off the car for these type of tests - it's too easy to ground
your jumper wire to something else (usually something valuable and/or
irreplaceable) under there.
