No no, thats just a spring loaded flap that diverts air from cold to hot
(takes it from exhaust heat or fresh). Once the engine warms up it
transfers to fresh air. I Live in CT where the winters are cold and I
havent had any ill effects since I took mine out. If you're in Ca, I
