RE: how to timing belt?

Ken,
Best way, or I should rather say the " preferred" way, is to use the factory
tool or fabricate one that will work on the same principal at the pulley,
The other methods might work (no idea , personally) but can be a "bit"
risky,
Take care,
Avi

Patrick,

There is one method that some have criticized. It involves taking a
tranny-to-engine bolt out and putting it inside a hole in the side of
the bell housing around the nine o'clock position or so from the rear
looking forward. With the motor at TDC, and trying to undo the
crank bolt, the tranny bolt will (if pushed) drop into a hole in the
side of the flywheel, locking it in place enough for the front crank
bolt to be removed.

You can do a search in the archives (I think) for the "tranny bolt
method". I've used it and found it simple, easy, and effective.

hth,

Ken
