I can buy into the no synthetic for a full rebuild, but only because you
will have problems with seating the rings. No problem with head replacement
(glad you found a head). Best to not attempt any special cleaning other than
good quality oil. I am not a proponent of engine flushing additive to the
oil, it is hard on the bearings and rings. On older engines I have seen
problems rather than cures related to the use of such stuff. Just run
quality oil and change it every 3k miles.
