I did mine with the proper factory tool and a 5+ foot long pipe as an
extension on a breaker bar.  It took all my 200+ lbs. weight jerking on the
thing to get the nut to break loose.  I figure this put 1000 +ft./lbs. of
peak torque momentarily on that nut and the crankshaft.  I cannot imagine
doing this job without the factory tool, although I have heard others found
the nut came off easily.
