I agree with you.  Any vehicle can and will get stuck if there is enough
snow.  I should have chosen my words more carefully.  Here in Chicago it is
very rare to get more than 5 inchs of snow or so at a time.  In these
conditions rear wheel drive sports cars tend to have problems getting out of
their parking spots in the city.  Much easier in an AWD car.
