I figured it out. When I looked at the lamps with the high beams on I
was standing close enough to the car that I couldn't see the h4 lamp. I
didn't know it was mounted up so high in the bucket. Turns out it was on
the whole time. The H3's were so bright they were binding me anyway :-)
Everything is working and I even got under the dash and bent over the
"K" terminal on the lamp check module. The adjusters are super easy to
use. I just layed some newspaper over the side I was not adjusting to
block the light. I was worried it might catch on fire :-P

I CAN SEE!

$600 sounds like a lot for some lights, but anyone with DOT's on a type
44 has no choice really. I have 55/65 H4's which are perfect. The 100
watt H3's are definately overkill, but I'm leaving 'em in for a while. I
know 330 watts on high doesn't compare to our illustrious ...or should I
type _illuminating_ friend Phil, but it's all I've got. Now I too can
can contribute to light pollution to the dismay of astronomers. I wonder
what is going to happen the next time I drive up Mount Hamilton to Lick
Observatory?

BTW, the projector headlights on the "new" golf aren't bad at all.
