Re: 89 200 tqa progess
Samir-
I can't, unfortunately, answer all these questions about your challenging
Avant. But, the radar power question: It seems you are going about this the
hard way. Three years ago, I got the "light bulb popping up above my head"
answer to the switched-power radar detector question. And, as of this
evening, I saw mention of the same method on Igor Kessel's website dealing
with his 200q. Both of us hard-wired the detector to the sunroof circuit. I
attached mine using a visor clip fastened behind the sunroof motor/courtesy
light panel. This gave it a clear shot at the windshield, hiding above the
rearview mirror. Nearly invisible, and impervious to melting (yes, BTDT) in
the desert heat, as once did a Whistler I mounted at dash level.
Sorry I can't recall the color of the wire to tap into for this power
source. (and, the 5kcst is recently departed)If you could diligently rewire
that scary battery connection, I'm sure you can find it with the test light-
not difficult at all, as I fuzzily recall...
If your 200q doesn't have a sunroof, you could wire it the way I did in my
recently acquired Coupe GT- to the courtesy light circuit, which regrettably
cannot supply a switched 12v. It does, however, eliminate long cords and
clutter, keeping the detector near the top of the windshield.
