Re: run-flat tires
Dave,
There are some real issues when buying extended mobility
Tires (EMT):
COST - The initial cost of the tires is high,
plus you will need to buy a pressure
sensing system (6 year service life)
RIDE - The ride is very poor with these tires,
very stiff with steel reinforcement
HANDLING - Tires weight more than conventional
tires, which may also cause added
suspension wear
QUESTIONABLE BENEFITS - It really has not been well
proven that these tire work very well as
run-flat tires, I would check into it further.
Also, once the tires have been run with zero
pressure for a measurable distance (>10 miles?)
they can not be repaired and need to be
replaced
A cell phone and/or AAA membership might be a better
investment.
