Lost a wheel bearing after 1 week
Snip>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I can't believe it. Last week I had 4 new wheel
bearings pressed into my 86
4KQ. This weekend, on the way home from the Maine
Rally, my left rear wheel
started humming again! I'm thinking Robbins gave me a
bad bearing, NAPA
screwed it up pressing it in or I screwed it up
because I didn't torque the
wheel nut enough (what is the proper torque Anyways?)
Any other ideas?
Thanks
Tim

Tim, I've had this problem a number of times before on
my UrQ and my old Coupe. Recently on my UrQ. What can
happen is that the hub becomes slightly undersized
from pushing it on and then it rotates inside one of
the two inner races. It may also be caused when the
moron heavily lubricates the hub before pressing it
in. This kills the bearing fast. My suggestion is to
get a used hub and try again. Of course it could be
just that they are idiots and pressed the hub in while
bearing on the outer race. That certainly happens.
Good luck.
