September 1999 issue compares S4 Quattro, BMW M3, Mercedes C43 AMG, 
and Saab 9-3 Viggen.  S4 is rated #1.  "Highs: Mannerly but powerful 
twin-turbo six, four-wheel-drive" traction, smooth ride, long list of 
features.  Lows: Steering needs more feel, shifter needs more 
precision, tires need more lateral grip.  The Verdict: A tchnological 
tour de force that's fast and practical, with a price that's easy to 
justify."
